- What time issues, if any, do I have?
- Do I have any major events or target dates coming up?
- When would be the best time to start my project?
Identifying time constraints will help determine your flexibility. For example, if you want to do more than you can afford, maybe a time-phased approach is the way to go. |
Lifestyle

- How do I want to use this space?
- Who will use it? Are children or pets involved?
- Will it be used for entertainment?
These are useful questions to consider when thinking of purchasing new items for a space – such as furniture, flooring, or wall treatments. |

Budget

- How much do I want to spend on this project?
The amount may change, but it is helpful to establish a target. This is one of the many factors needed to develop a plan.
- How far do I want to take my design ideas? How far should I take them?
Sometimes redecorating overflows into remodeling. Remember to consider the resale value of your home. Even if you think you will live in your home for a long time, expenses can sneak up quickly, unintentionally pricing your home out of the neighborhood. |
Do-It-Yourself

- How much of the work am I planning to do myself?
- Do I want to supply the materials, or do any of the installation, painting, tearing out, shopping, or other work?
